Doctors Wellbeing Walk
SPECIALLY DESIGNED CRADLE MOUNTAIN SIGNATURE WALK FOR MEDICAL DOCTORS
in PARTNERSHIP WITH DR NATALIE BURCH AND THE TASMANIAN WALKING COMPANY
Doctors are invited to walk and engage in the science of optimal wellbeing and burnout prevention. They are invited to share their challenges, discover practical and evidence-based approaches, and navigate Australia's great alpine track together.
In the comfort of the Tasmanian Walking Company huts, all can participate in this restorative and energising program. Away from the distractions of work and everyday life, the hikers' huts provide a warm, dry and casual space to relax and recover. It's during these times that we explore practical, and evidence-based strategies and activities to enable a more positive sense of life, to bring joy back into the everyday and build resilience for the future.
The activities are evidence based and immediately applicable to daily life. Many doctors are sceptical about alternative practices so we focus on those that have a strong basis in science such as meditation, mindfulness and compassion.
This activity is primarily targeted towards doctors experiencing or at risk of burnout and includes new techniques and education regarding self-care, patient care, professionalism and ethics, coupled with the opportunity to be removed from the demands of Doctors daily lives.
Lastly there is the opportunity to network, share stories and support and have the experience with like-minded doctors.
Finding Stillness
The Cradle Mountain Signature Walk is a six-day walk along the iconic Overland Track, retreating each evening to the comfort of the only private accommodation along the trail. Discover the rare beauty and diversity of Tasmania’s World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park. At the end of each day, retreat to a hot shower, sumptuous meals, freshly baked bread, a glass of Tasmanian wine and a comfortable bed.
We help people identify their inner and natural character strengths so they can unlock the key to thriving. We take time to explore values, reassess and reprioritise what is important to you. Using research, we explore the importance of emotional intelligences and use a wellbeing model that enables valuable reflection, appreciation and intention setting for sustainable change.
We incorporate pre-work, on the ground fun activities and worksheets, the science of reflection and journaling, meditation and mindfulness practices, all with an evidence base.
We explore what is flourishing, the importance of hope, the value of slowing down, and we show how time in nature restores the body and soul.
